2008: the fullness of 70 Jubilees

-the coming of Christ

Jubilee is a law which has to be observed by God's people upon their arrival in Promised Land. It is a system of sabbath consisting 7 'sabbath of years' times 7 totaling 49. Jubilee means 50th (the 1st year of the next cycle of 49). On this '50th' the command of God was to proclaim liberty throughout the land, all his people who were in bondage to any of their fellow shall be release,* all lands who were sold because of poverty shall be returned to its original owner,* and all should cease from work,* the land must be left desolate, it has to enjoy its rest. (Leviticus 25:8-13) This day is also called Atonement Day, a day of relief and jubilation.

According to Paul, these laws are a shadow --a preview-- of the things that were TO COME, but the reality is of Christ (Colossians 2:16,17 NIV). If the shadow offered temporary freedom, the reality 'that were to come' offered permanent liberty. Christ, according to prophecy, will come to 'proclaim liberty'

"...because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, TO PROCLAIM LIBERTY to the captives." (Isaiah 61:1,2)

Proclaimation of liberty occurs every Jubilee

"You must sanctify the 50th year and PROCLAIM LIBERTY in the land to all its inhabitants. It will become a Jubilee for you." (Leviticus 25:10)

So the coming of Christ must fall to Jubilee. At the fullness of times

"...that in the dispensation of the FULLNESS OF TIMES, He might gather together in one all things in Christ...who was preached to you before, whom heaven must recieve until the times of restoration of all things." (Ephesians 1:10; Acts 3:20,21)

Restoration of all things occur at the fullness of time, and as Jesus is prophesied to come in the fullness of time to 'proclaim liberty,' that fullness of time must be the fullness of Jubilee.

So to pinpoint the specific date of Christ return, the question that needs to be answer is: 'What is the total number of full Jubilee?'.

In Leviticus 26:34*, it was indicated that God has a number of sabbaths due to the land, something that needs to be repaid if goes uncompleted. That number according to 2Chronicles 36:21 NWT, is 70* --a number of sabbath due to the land of which Israel failed to complete, resulting to their being cast out of the land until the land had enjoyed her sabbath. "All the days of lying desolated it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years."

Because God had set a definite number of sabbath due to the land, and that number is 70, hence we have the key of the whole system of sabbaths. If 70 completes the system of '7 sabbath of years'* (Leviticus 25:1-7), then similarly, 70 will complete the system of 49 year cycle of Jubilee. So by just counting 70 49's, beginning in the first Jubilee, one will find Ethanim 10 (Sep/Oct) 2008 as the date of Christ second coming.

ruler To confirm: the first cycle of Jubilee year occur 49 years after Israel's arrival in Promised Land (In astronomical ruler, the first 49 represents 0, the second cycle represents 1).

The year of their arrival can be trace by summing the years from the time they left Egypt to the construction of Solomon's temple which took 480* years, (1King 6:1) then, from construction of the temple to Solomons death 36 years, (1King 11:42,43) then from Solomon's death to Babylon's seization of Jerusalem 390 years, (Ezekiel 4:1-5) then 70 years after Babylon had laid siege against Jerusalem they fell to the Persians. (Jeremiah 25:12) According to secular sources, Babylon was captured by the Persians 6 months before 539 BCE could become complete 1 year, (in Israel's sacred calendar years were reckoned beginning Nisan or Abib equivalent to March April-Exodus 13:4; 12:2). Babylon was captured on October, therefore if all the years from the time Israel leave Egypt to the fall of Babylon were summed up, the total years will be 975 plus 6 months.

In order to find when the Israelites had left Egypt, the next step is to count back 975 years from October 539 BCE. (in Israel's civil calendar years were reckoned beginning Tishri or Ethanim* equivalent to September October--The Mishnah, Oxford University Press, 1933, p.188.) Thus, 539+975 =October 1514.* But according to Exodus 13:4, Israel leaves Egypt 6 months before October that is Nisan (March/April). Therefore, if we move backward 6 months away from October 1514, then we can see that the date when Israel departs Egypt is between March April 1514. But since God' made Nisan (also called Abib) the first month of a year, (Exodus 13:4; 12:2*) hence, instead of April 1514 it became April 1513.

40 years later, before Israel's entry to Promised Land, in Ab 1, (July August) 1473 BCE Aaron died (Numbers 33:38) and at the end of 40th year, Moses also died. (Deuteronomy 34:1-7) Finally, in Nisan of 1472 Israel enters the Promised Land and celebrate the Passover (Joshua 5:6,10). So the count of '49 sabbath years' begins in 1472 BCE. (Leviticus 25:2,8-10) The year 1 of accounting corresponds to 1471. The first cycle of Jubilee runs from 1422 to 1373 BCE. The beginning of 70th cycle took place in 1959 and will be completed on 2008--the fullness of 70 Jubilees. The year of Christ second coming and the 'fullness of times' spoken of by Paul in Ephesians 1:10.

To make it clear, God's present people no longer bound to observe Jubilee Sabbaths. Jesus, in his first coming had already "taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross." (Colossian 2:14) However, the truth that Jesus had to come for the second time signify that the reality to which Jubilee had foreshadow remain. "So there remains a sabbath resting for the people of God." (Hebrew 4:9 NWT) A day of "releasing by a RANSOM to God's own possession." (Ephesians 1:14 NWT)

THE RANSOM

"Before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster." --Gal. 3:23-25

The ransom is the schoolmaster. In time before Christ, the schoolmaster creates division between the Jew and the gentile. But when Christ appeared, faith in him bring this two people into one, thus "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all in one in Christ Jesus." (Gal.3:26-28) the phrase 'ye are all one in Christ Jesus' is just a thing of the past, for the statement that fits well in today's Christianity is "ye are all divided in Christ Jesus."

In his time, Jesus removed the divisive law -the schoolmaster- by allowing himself to die. (John 18:11*) in this case Jesus represented the schoolmaster. (Eph. 2:15*) In our time, who will die to bring back the unity of God's people? Obviously, the law -that is: the faith- in Christ won't die for Jesus said, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18) But how about the laws or tailored faiths of our opposing churches, the leaven that disintegrated the faith in Christ into various divisions? Will it last forever? Certainly not, they bring the past into present; thus, as Jesus died to unite Israel, they -the modern schoolmasters- are bound to experience the same to bring the scattered people of God back into one body. (Mat.24:28*)
